The District has received the 50% construction documents for the new middle school, and geo-technical boring is completed. A final report on that is due later this week. Trustees saw a rendering of the school’s exterior and a potential layout of the campus grounds. Groundbreaking for the new middle school is on track for this coming January.
The advisory committee for the new Career & Technical Education high school has now met seven times. Groundbreaking for the new CTE high school is scheduled for June 2025.
An advisory committee for the Transition Learning Center has been created and met for the first time earlier this month.
Architects from Parkhill have met multiple times with ECISD staff for the projects at the Agriculture Farm, the Permian High School Auditorium, the JRTOC Facility, and the Transportation Facility. They are evaluating site options and working with the City on construction ordinances. The land survey and geo-technical evaluations are underway at the Ag Farm. Examples of similar projects done by Parkhill can be found in Lubbock ISD, Plains ISD, and Lamar Consolidated ISD.
The installation of new bleachers in the main gyms of the middle schools has just begun and is scheduled to continue over the next six weeks. The work is nearly done at Nimitz MS, and Crockett MS will follow.
The financial update shows about 3% of bond proceeds ($11.9 million) has been spent to date, with about 6% ($23.9 million) now designated for specific projects.
